Orange And Blue Had To Be Replaced — Web Design

Filed under: Announcements, Internet — Joseph Mayers on Thursday, September 6th, 2007 at 3:11 pm

Did you ever wonder why most of the popular Web sites, blogs, and sales pages have a white background. The core message is always conveyed in dark foreground color. Simply speaking, “That’s what people want.” We are so used to the black and white scheme that most people simply turn away from too colorful Web sites

FCON21 an Internet business solution provider who is specialized in usability engineering among other things has finally terminated the experiment with orange and blue on their home page and blog.

Compared to traffic stats from other site FCON21 is responsible for, one could easily see the impact from the color scheme alone. It is like the site started screaming to each visitor that came along, “Run away or I will bite you!” That’s indeed what most visitors did immediately.

Check out the current blog post, Bye-Bye Golden Layout, for more details. At the end you find a link to a recent and very interesting study conducted by Joe Hallock about perception of color and psychology. Check it out.
